Locksmith in Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona
Locked out, keys lost, key snapped in the lock, lock forced, shutter jammed or the shop shutter refusing to open. Mobile locksmith service across Esplugues de Llobregat and the surrounding Baix Llobregat, with the phone answered 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Read this before you call: the phone is answered in Spanish only. Nobody on the other end speaks English. If you do not speak Spanish, the practical thing is to ask a neighbour, your building concierge or a Spanish-speaking friend to call for you — or use the phrase sheet on this page, which has everything you need to say.

What to say on the phone, in Spanish
This is the part of the page that actually solves the problem. Read the middle column out loud. The right-hand column is a rough English-speaker's approximation of the sound — it is not proper phonetics, but it will be understood.

Three things that make the call work
- Start with the town, then the street. «Esplugues de Llobregat, calle…». Location first is what everyone is listening for.
- Spell out the floor and door. Spanish flats are given as «piso» (floor) and «puerta» (door number on that floor), for example «piso tercero, puerta segunda».
- Numbers are the hard part. If you cannot manage the street number in Spanish, say the street name and then read the digits one by one in English — numerals are widely recognised.
Genuine emergency? If a person or a pet is trapped, or there is a medical or fire risk, call 112 instead. It is free, it works from any phone, and the operators in Catalonia handle calls in English.
What the service covers
Door opening
Door slammed shut, keys left inside, key snapped in the cylinder, lock seized or turning without engaging. Opened without damaging the lock whenever the lock allows it.
Locks and cylinders
Cylinder replacement after lost keys, a departing tenant or a break-in attempt. Anti-bump, anti-pick and anti-drill cylinders, high-security keys, extra deadbolts.
Roller shutters
Jammed shutters, snapped webbing, worn end stops, failed tubular motors, and the metal shutter on a shop that will not open in the morning.
Security doors
Reinforced and armoured entrance doors, plus the far more common job: adjusting a door that no longer closes properly because the hinges have dropped.
Business premises
Shop shutters, panic bars and emergency exit hardware, door closers, access control and master-key systems. Invoices with full tax details.
Buildings and garages
Main entrance doors, letterboxes, storage rooms, communal garage doors and remote controls, with written quotes for the owners' association meeting.
Detailed pages exist in Spanish for each of these: door opening, locks and cylinders, shutters, security doors, business premises and residential buildings.
Four things worth knowing about locksmiths in Spain
Do not try the credit-card trick
It is the single most expensive mistake. A door that simply slammed shut is opened in minutes; the same door after twenty minutes of card, wire or hairpin very often needs the cylinder replaced, because something has been left inside it or the latch has been bent.
Prices are not published, and that is normal
No serious locksmith in Spain publishes a price list, because the real figure depends on the door, the cylinder, the hour and whether anyone has already had a go at it. What you can and should insist on: an approximate figure on the phone and a confirmed price before work starts.
Nights, weekends and public holidays cost more
That is standard across the trade. What is not acceptable is finding out at the moment of payment. If your problem can wait until the morning, say so and you will be told honestly — a booked visit is cheaper than an emergency call-out.
Expect to prove you live there
You will be asked for ID and something linking you to the property. If nobody asks you for it, that is a bad sign, not a convenience.
Urgent now, or a booked visit?
For an emergency, call and say «urgente» in the first sentence. For anything that can wait, a visit can be booked at a time that suits you — and it costs less.
Where this service operates
Esplugues de Llobregat is a town of about 46,000 people wedged between Barcelona, L'Hospitalet, Cornellà and Sant Just Desvern, immediately west of the city. It has an unusual concentration of international residents for its size: both the American School of Barcelona and the Deutsche Schule Barcelona are located here, as is the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, which draws families from abroad. If you are reading this in English, you are probably in one of those orbits.

The upper neighbourhoods — Finestrelles, La Miranda, Ciutat Diagonal and La Mallola — sit above the ronda de Dalt on the slope of Sant Pere Màrtir, and some of them can only be reached comfortably from one side. Give the street and number when you call.

Questions English speakers ask
Do you speak English?
No. Calls are answered in Spanish only. We are telling you this on purpose, before you dial, because being put through to someone you cannot understand while standing outside your own front door is the last thing you need. If you do not speak Spanish, the fastest route is to have a neighbour, your building concierge, a hotel receptionist or a Spanish-speaking colleague make the call for you. If you would rather try yourself, there is a phrase sheet further down this page with everything you need to say.
What does a locksmith cost in Esplugues de Llobregat?
It depends on the job, the hour and the lock. Opening a door that slammed shut at midday and replacing a forced high-security cylinder at three in the morning are not remotely the same. On the phone you get an approximate figure; the technician confirms the price before starting work. Be wary of anyone who quotes a firm price over the phone without seeing the door: either they will not honour it or it is a bait price.
How long will it take?
Typically 20 to 30 minutes from the moment you hang up. Esplugues is a small town, barely four square kilometres, it is well connected by the ronda de Dalt and the B-23, and the technicians already work in the area rather than driving in from elsewhere. When you call you are given the estimate for that specific moment, so you know when to expect someone.
Can you open the door without breaking the lock?
That is always the aim, and on most flat doors it works: the lock keeps working and nothing needs replacing. It is not possible when the deadbolt has been thrown from inside, when the cylinder has already been wrecked by a break-in attempt, or with certain high-security cylinders. The technician tells you before touching the door, not after.
What will you ask me for before opening the door?
ID and something linking you to the property: a passport or residence card plus a rental contract, a utility bill, or a neighbour who can identify you. This is standard practice in Spain and it is what stops anyone having someone else's door opened. If everything you own is inside the flat, say so on the phone and a way will be found.
Is there a shop I can walk into?
No. This is a mobile service: the work is done at your door, your business premises or your garage. There is no counter to visit and no key-cutting shop. The legal details of the site owner and of the service provider are on the aviso legal page, in Spanish, as Spanish law requires.
Someone is locked inside, or there is a medical emergency. What do I do?
Call 112, not a locksmith. It is the European emergency number, it is free from any phone, and operators in Catalonia handle calls in English. Firefighters will force entry without waiting for paperwork. A locksmith should not be your first call when someone is at risk.
